Nursery
In Term 1 the Nursery children have been working with the topic 'Me and My Community', which has included a variety of themes to help settle them into Nursery through gaining a sense of belonging to it and their wider world. As part of this, they have been learning about the daily routines in Nursery and the important role they have to play, including making new friends.
We have talked about Our Families at home; who lives with us, and discovered the different members of family there are. Some children shared their family photos, and we all enjoyed seeing these and learning about each other's family.
The children then explored the wider community and the important key workers, or Real Superheroes, who help us every day. From fire fighters and police officers to carers and supermarket workers. The children especially loved dressing up and role-playing these special people in our community.
Also this term, we have been finding out about colours and how mixing them together can create other colours and shades. The children have used the paints to mark-make using brushes, rollers and hands. This combined with our focus on Autumn and how the colour of leaves change with the season.
Finally, we have discovered that some animals hibernate in autumn and winter. The children have made playdough hedgehogs and created hiding spaces for them to sleep. They have created autumn themed art work and sang songs about hibernation.
