In Terms 3 and 4, St Martha class enjoyed learning all about the 'Frozen Kingdoms'. In Literacy, we wrote a variety of genres such as non-chronological reports, setting descriptions, fact files about the Titanic, formal and informal letters and much more. The children enjoyed Geography where we traced the route that the Titanic took before sinking. We discovered the world of the Arctic and Antarctica, where darkness surrounds the frozen lands for 6 months of the year in the Polar Night and there is also light for 6 months of the year - the Polar Sun. In History, we deep-dived into the Atlantic Ocean, where we put ourselves into the shoes of the passengers who were on board the Titanic. We looked at the living conditions, the facilities and what life was like before the Titanic met its fate. Overall, the topic was extremely interesting and we realised there is a whole world out there to be discovered.
