The All Saints School Council

This is the All Saints School Council for 2024-25. The school council leader is Miss Strachan

These children told their class they would like to be a school councillor. They had to prepare a speech to give to their class. In their speech they explained why they thought they would make a good councillor and they gave suggestions of changes they would like to make to the school. Once the class had heard all of the speeches they had a vote on which person they thought would do the best job.

These children were elected onto the council. They represent all 315 children at the main school and the 60 children at the nursery. Their main job is to work with adults to make the school and school community a better place to be.

Term 1- Mission number 1 for our school council this year:

Our school council realise that not all children are as lucky as them. Some children suffer from sadness and their well being is not good. When our minds are not happy and healthy it affects our emotions, our moods and our behaviour. In September, our school council wanted to fund raise for young peoples mental health. They found a suitable charity, organised an assembly to inform others about it, wrote home to parents to tell them about a special day at school, they promoted their special day by making and displaying posters and they arranged for mellow yellow tag day to take place .School council raised £180 for children's mental health.

Term 2 - Mission number 2 for our school council this year

In November the school council hosted a Pyjamarama day for Children In Need. All the children and staff came to school wearing their pyjamas and they sold cakes at morning breaktime. Thank you school council for helping others less fortunate than yourselves. The school council raised £235 for Children in Need.

Term 3 - Mission number 3 for our school council this year

Our school councillors decided that they wanted to do something towards improving lunchtimes at school. They informed me that after eating, children sit about with nothing to do except chat to others which makes the lunch room environments (rather cramped and small) really noisy. They said they needed something they could be occupied with. The councillors held meetings with their friends and their class mates who came up with the idea of having activities on the lunch tables that children could do if they finish eating early. Miss Strachan and the councillors bought a range of items that were suggested and the school councillors made up activity pots to put our new resources in. The children enjoy using them and they report they are 'less bored' at lunchtimes now. The councillors have succeeded in making school lunchtimes better.

Term 4 - Mission number 4 for our school council this year

At the end of term 4 our school councillors got involved in the Comic Relief fund raising initiative. They wrote a letter to parents asking them to send their children into school wearing red noses on that day and to bring in some small cupcakes for a bake sale that they will be running at breaktimes. The councillors collected up all monies made from the bake sale and they raised a total of .............................. for Comic Relief.
