This term, Year 3 have had a fantastic time exploring our exciting topic, Tremors. Throughout the term, we have developed our understanding of volcanoes and earthquakes, showing great curiosity and enthusiasm for our learning.
In English, we have been reading Escape from Pompeii, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. It inspired some fantastic diary writing, where the children wrote as if they were experiencing the eruption themselves. They also created brilliant volcano-shaped poems, using ambitious vocabulary to describe eruptions and their effects.
In Science, we explored forces and magnets. The children carried out a range of investigations to understand how magnets work and what materials are magnetic. They showed great curiosity, asked thoughtful questions, and worked well together during practical activities.
As part of our Design and Technology learning, the children designed and built their own volcanoes. They worked carefully to construct their models and then had lots of fun bringing them to life with eruptions! It was wonderful to see their creativity and teamwork throughout the process.
During our trip to Kent Life, the children had a wonderful time taking part in a range of activities. One of the highlights was making Roman pinch pots, which they carefully shaped and later decorated. They showed great focus and creativity, and were very proud of their finished pieces.
We also proudly took part in our performance of The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse. The children showed fantastic confidence, enthusiasm, and teamwork. They worked incredibly hard to learn their lines, songs, and actions, and delivered a brilliant performance that they should be very proud of.
Overall, it has been a busy and engaging term. The children have worked incredibly hard, supported one another, and approached every activity with enthusiasm. We are very proud of all they have achieved and look forward to another exciting term ahead.
