All Saints school is distinctive in character as a Church of England Primary School. The work in both Religious Education and Collective Worship emphasises the Christian way of life and promotes Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural development. Pupils recite the school vision daily, they live the school vision daily and the school vision underpins all decision making and school development. Our full school vision is:
Drawing on the teachings of Isaiah to show faith and resilience in challenging times, our primary school provides learning for 21st century living, hope for social, moral, spiritual and cultural radiance and encourages everyone to flourish; to work hard and be the best that they can be. It celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of each person within our community and incorporates an acronym of our school values upon which all life within our school is built: Achievement, Respect, Inclusion, Support and Enjoyment.
“Our All Saints family shall ARISE and shine
for the light of The Lord is upon us”
All stakeholders of the school articulate the vision through its final sentence.
Intent
At All Saints, the RWV curriculum runs central to our daily practises as a community, but also through the provision of an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum that meets the contextual needs of our setting.
Through our RWV curriculum, all members of the All Saints family are provided the opportunity to engage in:
Implementation
The RWV curriculum at All Saints is implemented through use of resources from Rochester Diocese. This base provides:
Impact
As children progress through the RWV curriculum at All Saints, they become:
Through all of the above, pupils develop an awareness of and respect for the beliefs and feelings of those within the school and wider community.
We visit our local Church (St Paul with All Saints, Chatham) across the school year for events such as, Dedication Service, Harvest, Christingle, Christmas, Easter and to celebrate our leavers moving on to secondary schools. Parents are invited to join us at these services to celebrate and worship together. The children also attend festivals at Rochester Cathedral throughout the school year and they visit other places of worship as part of their RWV learning.
Weekly after school club
Every Friday from 3.15-4.15 we hold an extra curricular RWV club all year round called Kingsquad. During these sessions the children engage in fun activities to help them learn Biblical stories and commit verse to memory. If you want a place at this club 0 you need to sign up quickly because they go fast!
Challenge work in RWV
In every RE lesson that we deliver we include challenges as a matter of course. On Thursday mornings across the school we engage in higher order thinking with our weekly Thunk topic that encourages children to justify the opinions they hold about an issue and to disagree well. Each term the children are taught by the pupil group of global neighbours about an issue of social injustice and the children devise ways of overcoming this divide and try to strive to achieve more equality. Our children are regularly called upon in class to compare and contrast the practises and beliefs of different faiths - they love a challenge to extend their thinking beyond the norm!
