Nursery
In Term 4, the themes in our Nursery have been 'Dangerous Dinosaurs' and 'Puddles and Rainbows'.
The children have learnt dinosaur names and explored how dinosaurs looked and moved, through stories, non-fiction books and children's videos. They drew dinosaur pictures, went on a dinosaur hunt in the garden, and sang and danced to dinosaur songs. As part of this theme, the children learnt about volcanoes and took part in an experiment in the garden where we made a volcano using a bottle of coke and Mentos.
We then moved onto thinking about Spring and Easter, with the children making Easter art and crafts and learning about the biblical story of Easter. The children explored colour and how to make rainbows. They did rainbow paintings and drawings, and made a rainbow with warm water and Skittles. Finally, the children read the book 'Watch out for Muddy Puddles', and made puddle pictures and rain makers.
In addition, the children made pancakes for Pancake Day, and celebrated World Book Day and Red Nose Day. They have been learning more sounds from our phonics scheme, Read Write Inc, as well as exploring 2D shapes, learning shape names, and counting the sides and vertices of shapes. The children have been developing their musical skills through instrument playing; learning tempo and keeping the beat, as well as mark-making, role-playing and much more.
It has been another term filled with fun and learning!
