Our PE days are on a Monday and Wednesday. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school on these days.
Homework is set weekly on a Friday and is due the following Thursday.
Our Curriculum
We adopted a curriculum which is published by Cornerstones. English and all foundation subjects: History, Geography, Art, DT and Music are taught through our termly theme. Cornerstones will provide our children with a good level of challenge, giving them opportunities to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding across the full range of National Curriculum subjects.
Year 1 will experience 3 Imaginative Learning Projects in a year. Each individual project is split into sections, which see children progress through four stages of learning: Engage, Develop, Innovate and Express. We are confident that our curriculum will instill a curiosity and love of learning/school in our children. It will help them maintain their well-being and provide opportunities for each of them to achieve their full potential. In every lesson and homework piece, we make sure that there is an accessible challenge to extend learning and we even have a termly curriculum challenge for all the whole school to take part in! We have a daily maths lesson that is taught using our school scheme ‘Third Space Learning’.
Our Topic for Term 1 & 2: Childhood
This term, our exciting history topic is all about Childhood! We will explore:
- Stages of Life: Learning about the 6 stages of human life from baby to elderly.
- History & Artefacts: Looking at old toys and objects to see how childhood has changed over time.
- Life in the 1950s: Exploring what school, homes, and shops were like in the 1950s, including Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953.

Our 5-Step Behaviour Rule
If a rule is broken, teachers follow these simple steps to help everyone get back on track:
- 1-1 Reminder – A quiet chat to remind you of the rules.
- Warning – A clear reminder to make a better choice.
- Regulation Station – A quiet space to calm down and reflect.
- Time Out – A short break to work in another teacher's room.
- Phase Leader – Speaking with a senior teacher for extra support.
