St Andrew

This term, St Andrew class have been learning all about the weird and wonderful world of 'Potions'. Within this topic, we fell down a rabbit hole of curiosity, where we read Alice in Wonderland and based lots of our creative writing on this story. Through the magic of writing, we became newspaper reporters and authors of a variety of writing tasks including setting descriptions and character descriptions.

Enthusiastic about the story, one of our St Andrews pupils said, "I really loved reading Alice in Wonderland and every time we read the story, I felt like I was entering a new world of magic and wonder!"

We also became engrossed in Shakepeare's 'Macbeth' and couldn't quite believe the twists and turns of the story. Within our writing, we wrote diary entries, letters and even wrote an announcement of the death of King Duncan. It was a big responsibility - but we love a challenge!

In Science, we looked at states of matter and the reversible and irreversible changes of different materials. Being the fantastic scientists that we are, we completed a science experiment where we observed a frozen bottle of ice melt over a period of time. Within our experiment, we were required to make predictions, complete observations and then analyse our findings and present them. We enjoyed this experiment so much that we have already planned our next one for term 5, confident that next time, it'll be even better!

One of our favourite days so far has been our visit to Kent Life where we made clay pots - as part of our Art topic. At Kent Life, we made memories that will last a life time!

This term, one of our biggest focuses have been on our improvement of our multiplication skills in preparation for our Multiplication Check in June. Every single one of us have made great progress with and we are all so proud of ourselves. Our school value of 'Support' has really shone through the windows and doors of St Andrew this term, with every single child encouraging and celebrating one another's progress.

What a great term we've had and we can't wait for the next one!
