During Terms 3 and 4, the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring our topic, 'Sow, Grow and Farm.' They learned about the history of allotments and discovered how people grew their own food during the Dig for Victory campaign. Researching deforestation sparked some brilliant discussions, and they worked hard to write balanced arguments, carefully considering different perspectives.

A highlight of the topic was learning about plant lifecycles, which involved an experiment where they grew mint from both seeds and cuttings. The children were amazed to see the differences in how each plant developed and loved observing the changes over time.

They also explored different types of farming around the world, comparing traditional and modern methods. Through this, they gained a real appreciation for the farmer’s year and brought their learning to life by writing diary entries from a farmer’s perspective. Additionally, they enjoyed learning about Fair Trade and how we can support farmers globally and used this knowledge to design some fantastic leaflets to raise awareness of its importance.

It has been a wonderful journey, and the children have shown great enthusiasm throughout. We look forward to continuing our learning in the next term!
