BREAKFAST CLUB PLAY CARE ASSISTANT

Grade E2 £16,394 - £16,863 (£8.50 - £8.74 per hour) per annum pro rata

Hours: 7 ½ hours per week, term time only, 7.30am to 9.00am

 

 

All Saints Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and caring person to join our very successful breakfast club team.

 

Duties will include to support activities associated with the smooth running of the club, preparing breakfast and providing a clear focus for play and learning activities.

The successful candidate will enjoy caring for children and working in a team environment.

 

Child care qualifications is desirable but not essential.

MAIN DUTIES OF THE ROLE:

 

To assist in the day to day organisation of the out of school breakfast club.

 

This includes:

 

  • To provide full care for the children with particular emphasis on providing a healthy breakfast
  • To provide a safe, stimulating and secure breakfast club environment.
  • To keep the Supervisor informed of any situation that arises.
  • To arrive by 7.30am to set out tables and benches ready for children arriving at 7.45am
  • help pupils develop their own social/play skills and physical well-being.
  • Prepare and serve breakfast and to wash and tidy up afterwards.
  • To maintain a high standard of hygiene and encourage the children to do likewise.
  • To undertake any training as appropriate.
  • Administering first aid as appropriate.
  • Encouraging parental support.
  • Close liaison with school.
  • Attend meetings as appropriate.
  • Carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework.
  • To work within agreed policies.

SENIOR LUNCHTIME PLAY LEADER

Grade D1 £16,495 - £18,319 (£8.55 - £9.50 per hour) per annum pro rata

Hours: 2 per day term time only, 12 noon to 2.00pm

 

All Saints Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint a Senior Play Leader who can make a real difference to children’s lunchtimes by promoting and participating in play to enhance their social skills.  Duties will include ensuring the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils during the lunch break and managing the deployment of Play Leaders and Midday Meals Supervisors over a two shift lunch break.

 

The successful candidate will enjoy caring for children and working in a team environment.

 

An NVQ in Playwork is desirable but not essential

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

  1. PURPOSE

 

To ensure the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils during the lunch break and to organise and manage the deployment of other Play Leaders in accordance with the practices and procedures of the Trust.  To implement the instructions of the Business Manager or designated officer, for the overall arrangements of midday breaks in accordance with school policy.

 

  1. ACCOUNTABILITY

 

  1. Deploy Midday Meals Supervisors and Play Leaders to ensure the effective supervision of all pupils during the midday break.
  2. Develop the skills of MMS through appropriate training.
  3. Supervise the pupils in playgrounds or other parts of the school premises.
  4. To work with the pupils, especially pupil play leaders to increase the social aspect of the playground and to help pupils develop their own social/play skills and physical well being.
  5. To work closely with the Family and Pupil Support Worker to implement play and equipment in the school to promote and develop play which compliments the social and emotional aspects of learning taught at the school.
  6. Ensure good standards of behaviour by the pupils are maintained.
  7. Assist in dealing with issues arising from unruly behaviour and report such matters to the FPSW.
  8. Assist with associated ancillary duties (eg cleaning up spillages, ensuring tables are clean etc) if MMS absent
  9. Ensure school security regulations are upheld
  10. Provide welfare support to the pupils
  11. Attend appropriate training sessions in order to increase knowledge and skills.

  1. ORGANISATION

 

The post holder is responsible to the Business Manager or designated officer

 

The postholder has responsibility for organising playground activities and directing MMS and Play Leaders accordingly.

The postholder will have daily contact with other staff and pupils.

The postholder has no direct financial responsibilities.
