In Term 1 the topics for Nursery have been ‘Me and My Community’ and ‘Exploring Autumn’. 

Me and My Community 

In the first two weeks of this term, the children have been settling in and getting to know the nursery rules and routines, making new friends and exploring their new surroundings. They have talked about and drawn pictures of themselves, their favourite foods and things. The children then explored different families and talked about who they live with. Our focus then turned to our community and the people who help us. The children learned about the dentist and dental hygiene, and then about firefighters and the important job they do to keep us safe. 

Exploring Autumn 

The children explored different colours and how to mix them together to create new colours. Each day the children mixed different colour paints to create artwork, played with coloured water, and sorted coloured objects. 

We finished off the term by exploring all things autumn – from the colours of autumn, leaf artwork, and talking about animals that hibernate.
