St Augustine
This term has concluded the theme of the Blue Abyss. This topic has taught the children lots about the oceans, aquatic habitats as well as the causes of water pollution.
Our focus in science was to work scientifically. We designed an investigation on how pollutants might affect aquatic plants. We looked at how we could conduct a fair test. The children also made predictions on any changes they expected to see at the conclusion of the investigation.
Our literacy was packed with a variety of activities which were used to develop children’s skills in writing and creative expression. We were able to create a ballad on the life of the whale Keiko and also created oral and written arguments about the benefits and hazards of tourism to an eco-fragile environment such as the Great Barrier Reef.
Finally, this term ended with our amazing production of The Rock Pool. The children were able to learn lines, songs, dances which they excitedly performed to the school and their parents.
