St Peter & St Paul
In St Peter and St Paul our themes were ‘Long Ago’ and ‘Creation Story’.
We learnt about Chinese New Year and the traditions that go alongside this festival, such as the story of the Great Race. We learnt about which zodiac animal year we were born under, we discovered we were either Roosters or Dogs!
In our classroom, our teachers bought in some very unusual looking things that they told us were ‘toys’ only they didn’t look like the toys that we are used to playing with. We had fun making our very own ‘cup and ball game’ – which was very tricky to play!
Another story that enjoyed from long ago was the Creation Story. We heard about how the world was made and that it took God only 6 days and then he had rest on day 7. We classified objects into 2 groups, God Made and Man Made – did you know a pine cone is made by God, because it comes from a tree…
We listened to lots of Traditional Tales – Wow they are old! Our teachers also read to us some more modern day versions of these tales, where characters were not what we expected them to be. We are now convinced that the Big Bad Wolf simply had a cold! 😊
