St Peter & St Paul
In St Peter and St Paul we continued with the theme ‘Ready, Steady Grow’ and ‘Old Testament Stories'.
In our classroom, we have been very busy learning about plants and what they need in order to grow! We also learnt about the different parts of a plant. When learning about the coronation, we talked a lot about our new King and discovered that he was in fact a man who liked his plants... So much that he enjoys talking to them and believes that this helps them to grow.
This led us to carry out a science experiment, where we planted some broad bean seeds and kept them in different conditions. Our first set of beans were watered and spoken to, the second set of beans were watered but not spoken to and our 3rd set of beans were not given any water or spoken to. We enjoyed watching them grow, well those that we watered and were fascinated when we saw the roots appear and then the shoots!
We enjoyed celebrating the Kings coronation and found the story 'The Kings Pants' very funny. The best part of the day was decorating our own pants for the King and then taking them outside to wave around, whist we sang our coronation song.
This term in RE, we have thought about 'Old Testament Stories', in particular the promises that God made to different people in the stories. We really enjoyed the story of Noah's Ark and that God made a promise by putting a rainbow in the sky. We then drew our own rainbows and made our own promises to God.
