Year 1 Topic – Childhood

This term the children have been learning all about how childhood has changed over the last 100 years, looking at old toys and furnishings of homes from the 1950s. They have been writing autobiographies about what they were able to do as a baby and toddler and had a go at acting this out. In Art the children have learnt how to mix primary colour to create secondary colours.

This term in Geography  the children have been drawing their own maps and identifying the four countries in the United Kingdom and the continents and oceans of the world.  In Science they learnt the names for the body parts of the human body and practised using their senses to identify different noises and tastes. The children have also been painting in the style of Kandinsky and learning how to draw facial features to create a self portrait.
