St Patrick
Childhood
During our Childhood project, St Patrick class have learnt words and phrases related to the passage of time. We have explored artefacts to help us to understand childhood in the past and how childhood has changed over time. We have learnt about the six stages of life and explored timelines and family trees.
We have researched everyday life in the 1950s focusing on shops, transport, family life and childhood. We watched clips of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953 and studied photographs to help us understand the significance of it. In geography we have used maps to explore how places have changed over time and highlighted any similarities or differences between childhood today and childhood in the 1950s.
In Science we have investigated everyday materials. We have observed and identified objects made from different materials and have used venn diagrams to present our findings.
Our Art topic was called 'Mix it'. We have made colour wheels and learnt about the primary and secondary colours. We have also studied the works of Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian and then created our own art work inspired by them.
