Over Term 1 & 2 children will learn about the history of three of the world’s first ancient civilisations: ancient Sumer, ancient Egypt and the Indus Valley civilisation. Children will learn about the rise, life, achievements and eventual end of each civilisation.

We read every day and have daily literacy lessons that cover comprehension, grammar, punctuation, spelling and handwriting. We link all of our learning through our weekly theme writing and extended writing termly. Spelling overviews for this term will be posted on the class webpage. Please support your child in helping them to learn their spellings for the weekly tests.

In Science we will be learning about electrical circuits and conductors. Pupils will construct simple series circuits and name their parts and functions, including switches, wires and cells. They will also investigate electrical conductors and insulators and identify common features of conductors. Children will also learn about programmable devices and combine their learning to design and make a nightlight.
