St George
This term, St George have been studying the fascinating ancient civilisation, the Egyptians. From artefacts to pharaohs, Gods and rituals, we have enjoyed learning more and more. The class also wrote some fabulous, suspenseful stories using the knowledge they have gained this term. We sketched and studied ‘nemes’, the Ancient Egyptian headdress worn by pharaohs. Our challenge was to then attempt a ‘prototype’ of the nemes for a costume – these children nailed it! We started by studying hieroglyphics and then moved into a study and sketch of Egyptian amulets. We then developed our ideas by creating our own amulets out of clay. To take our skills further, we painted our amulets and some of us even made decorative beads to embellish them with.
