Nursery
This half-term, the Nursery topics were ‘Sparkle and Shine’ and ‘Once Upon a Time’.
For ‘Sparkle and Shine’ we explored the Diwali, the Festival of Lights, and learnt how children celebrate Diwali with their families. We made paper plate lanterns creating a lovely display in the nursery and traditional Rangoli patterns using pasta and paper shapes. Using a salad spinner and paint, the children were able to create colourful firework pictures. In the run up to Bonfire Night, we talked about staying safe during firework parties.
Our ‘Once Upon a Time’ topic focused on a selection of popular and traditional stories; from Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood and more! As well as reading the stories, they have been acted them out using a variety of puppets and props, and each story has been linked to a range of different songs and dances. We had a visiting Dance Teacher for an exciting workshop! Using nursery rhymes and songs, the children had a wonderful musical time, with bean bags, scarves and shakers. Then, as we neared the end of term, we discovered the story of the Nativity. The children have been busy making a variety of Christmas arts and crafts, as well as preparing to sing Christmas songs for parents and carers.
As well as all this, the children have also been learning the first sounds of the Read Write Inc. scheme, and counting objects to 5, with our interactive math table and counting songs.
