St Mary
Term 5 - Magnificent Monarchs
This term, St Mary’s topic is called ‘Magnificent Monarchs’. The children have learned about the history of the monarchy from AD 871 right up to the present day and the coronation of King Charles III. We have looked at timelines and royal portraits before investigating a monarch of our own choice. We dressed up as kings and queens to create our own pictorial timeline. As well as this, the children celebrated the coronation with the rest of the school, learning a song to sing to King Charles and, after reading the story, designing ‘The King’s Pants’. The whole school took their finished pants to the playground to wave in the air in celebration! We have also enjoyed Music Day, learning music and songs about friendship, creating our own digital music using I-pads during computing lessons and learning more about the Jewish and Muslim faiths in our RE lessons.
