St Andrew

Over Term 1 and 2, St Andrew has been learning all about 'Ancient Civilisations'. :

• Ancient Sumer
• Ancient Egypt
• The Indus Valley

We learnt about the features, culture, life and impact of these cultures as well as understanding about civilisation as a whole and how that has changed. In Literacy, we wrote stories and poems inspired by ancient artefacts and we read a really fascinating book called Secrets of a Sun King which we all lolved. As part of our design and technology lessons, we built tools to create a pyramid using recyclable materials, as well as a clay statuette in a Sumerian Style. We also learned about the features of Islamic art. We then used what we had learned to create a clay tile, decorated with geometric patterns.
